Working to build a Lansing that listens!

Who am I?

Since the day I moved to Lansing, I have continually promoted our city and its people. I see the vibrant people, unique communities, and the city’s potential to become a premiere destination to live and work. I see a city that I want my family to call home for generations.

I have spent my entire professional career as a passionate advocate and attorney for those ignored and marginalized by systems and society. I see those same problems harming so many of our neighbors. I will fight for the residents of Lansing just like I fight for my clients in court.

The people spoke clearly when they chose to start a charter revision. The directive is to create change and create a government that is responsive to the needs of all its residents. The Charter is our city’s foundational document and undertaking any change is a serious process. The decisions made will impact residents for years to come.

I am asking you to choose me for the job. Help me build a Lansing that is better for us all!

My Plans For The Commission and The Charter

Transparency in the Process

The people of Lansing deserve to know how the Commission is shaping the future of our city. As Commissioner, I would call open information sharing and community dialogue throughout the process.

Strong Check and Balances

Regardless of who holds the power in city government, there must be structures in place to maintain the will of the people. The Charter must provide protections to ensure that policy making is collaborative.

Protecting Proven Programs

As we improve our government, we need to keep what works. The Charter is home to some unique and valuable features. I am dedicated to maintaining those programs as we move toward the future.

Lansing needs a government that responds to all its residents. The new charter needs to increase the power of an individual resident’s voice in policy making. There must be safeguards to ensure more intimate representation of communities
